At the gate
Call directory
Last verified: October 4, 2026If your community has a SAGE kiosk at the gate, it doubles as a call directory. A visitor without a code or an invite can find you on the kiosk and video-call your phone. You see who’s at the gate and can let them in from the app.
How a visitor calls you
- Open the directory - At the kiosk, the visitor taps Resident Directory.
- Find you - Depending on how the kiosk is set up, they may first choose Search by Name or Search by Address. They then pick you from the list.
- Call - The kiosk shows “You are about to call” and they tap Call.
Not every kiosk shows Resident Directory, and kiosk settings decide how names appear in the list.
Answer and let them in (iPhone)
- Answer - Your iPhone rings like a normal phone call, even when it’s locked. Answer it.
- Check who it is - The SAGE call screen opens. You see and hear the visitor through the kiosk. Use Mute, Stop video and Speaker as needed.
- Decide - Under “Let your guest in?”, tap Grant access to open the gate, or Deny to end the call without opening it.
- Done - You’ll see Access granted (“We’ve let your guest in”) or Entry denied. Tap Done.
If you miss the call, you get a “Missed call” notification. If the call drops, the app says so. Ask your visitor to call again.
The app needs your microphone and camera for calls. If it asks, allow both. If you see a message about microphone or camera access, open your phone’s settings, find SAGE, and turn them on.
The new Android app can’t receive gate calls yet.
Who appears in the directory
You’re listed in your community’s directory, and can get calls from the kiosk, when all of these are true:
- You’re a resident or tenant at the property, and calls are turned on for you there.
- You’ve verified your identity in the app. See ID verification.
- Your access to the property isn’t suspended.
Guests aren’t listed. In the app, the calls permission is Answer calls on iPhone and Receive calls on Android. A household member who manages your home can change it for you. See Household. Otherwise, ask your property manager.
