At the gate
Call directory
Last verified: October 4, 2026This guide is for the SAGE app (version 3) and management portal you use today. See the guide for the new apps.
If your community has a SAGE kiosk at the gate, it doubles as a call directory. A visitor without a code or an invite can find you on the kiosk and video-call your phone. You see who’s at the gate and can open it from the app.
How a visitor calls you
- Open the directory - At the kiosk, the visitor taps Resident Directory.
- Find you - Depending on how the kiosk is set up, they may first choose Search by Name or Search by Address. They then pick you from the list. If several people live at the address, they may pick from a list of them.
- Call - The kiosk shows “You are about to call” and they tap Call.
Not every kiosk shows Resident Directory, and kiosk settings decide how names appear in the list: full name, first name and last initial, or hidden behind a generic label.
Answer and let them in
- Answer - Your phone rings with an incoming video call. Answer it.
- Check who it is - You see and hear the visitor through the kiosk.
- Open the gate - Tap Grant Access. The app shows Access Granted and the gate opens. To end the call without opening the gate, tap the red end-call button.
On Android, the app needs microphone and camera permission to connect calls. If it asks, allow both in your phone’s settings.
Who appears in the directory
You’re listed in your community’s directory, and can get calls from the kiosk, when all of these are true:
- Receive Calls is on for you at the property.
- You’ve verified your identity in the app. See ID verification.
- Your access to the property isn’t suspended.
Guests aren’t listed, and the app keeps Receive Calls off for minors. The property’s primary owner can turn Receive Calls on or off for people in the household from Occupants. See Owners and occupants. Otherwise, ask your property manager.
