Devices page
Last verified: October 3, 2026This guide is for the SAGE app (version 3) and management portal you use today. See the guide for the new apps.
The Devices page lists every access credential in your community in one place: barcodes, key fobs, cards, keypads, mobile credentials and LPR (license plate) devices, across all units. Use it to find a device, check its status, or add a new one without opening each unit.
You see Devices in the menu when your community has the Devices module and you have the Devices permission. Opening the page also needs the Org Dashboard permission.
Tabs
| Tab | What it lists |
|---|---|
| Active Devices | Devices that are fully set up. Badge-type devices are on your gate system; LPR devices are listed here as soon as they’re added. A device here can still show Inactive or Disabled because of its dates. |
| Pending Devices | Devices that aren’t on the gate system yet, because the owner hasn’t accepted their SAGE invite or the device still needs to sync. |
| Orphaned Devices | Badges imported into SAGE that aren’t assigned to anyone yet. |
Each tab shows a count. Some communities that share credentials with another community also see a Shared Members tab.
Find a device
On Active Devices and Pending Devices, narrow the list with:
- Device Number - The device number on the badge or fob.
- Owner - Search by name.
- Device Type
- Property - The unit.
- Access Group
- Status - On Active Devices, Enabled or Disabled. On Pending Devices, Invited or Sync Needed.
Click Reset to clear the filters. The list shows Facility Code, Device No., Device Type, Owner, Access Groups and Status. Click a device to open it.
Device status
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Enabled | The device is within its activation and expiration dates. |
| Inactive | The activation date is still in the future. |
| Disabled | The expiration date has passed. |
| Invited | The owner hasn’t accepted their SAGE invite yet. The device goes onto the gate system when they accept. |
| Sync Needed | The owner has a SAGE account, but the device isn’t on the gate system yet. |
Add a device
- On Active Devices or Pending Devices, click Add Device.
- Choose the Property, the Device Type and the Owner, then fill in the rest of the form.
- Click Add.

Assign an orphaned device
- Open the Orphaned Devices tab and click the device.
- The Add New Device form opens with the badge details filled in. Choose the property and owner.
- Click Add. The device leaves the Orphaned Devices list.
To remove an orphaned badge you don’t need, open it and click the trash icon (Delete Unassigned Device).
To add, edit or delete a device you need the Manage Occupant Devices or Manage Organization Devices permission. The Add Device button shows either way, but saving fails without one of them.
